Getting Ready for Vacation

So the time has come to get everything ready for vacation.  I am going to start packing this week.  If you know me, ever since Harrison was born I have a tendency to over think things.  Needless to say I have lists on top of lists that I think I need to take.  We are making the Wal-Mart run tonight to get stuff and I know that I am going to forget something.  I know I am probably going overboard but I want to make Harrison's first vacation perfect.  I know he is not going to know everything that is going on but through pictures I hope that he will remember how special it was.  I know that this year will be special for me because it was 30 years ago this August that I went to the mountains for the first time.

I have tried to think of neat ideas for a memory album but not as complicated as a scrapbook.  I do not know how to scrapbook.  I have decided to take pictures of places that we go (ie restaurants, family union, cades cove, and Cherokee, n.c.) and ask them to write a comment on a card I have created to help Harrison remember.  I also am using an idea I found on Pinterest of stitching a map to show where we traveled to and put it in a shadow box to hang in his room.

I cannot wait until next Friday when we load up and start down the road.  I love going to the mountains and I am excited about giving Harrison a change of scenery.  I will post pictures when we get back of what we did and also little happies Harrison got along the way.  Pictures of the memory map will be up once I get it completed.

Where to begin???  On February 3, 2003, I went to Formal Dinner at Blue Mountain College with Eddie Johnson as my escort.  We started sending notes back and forth and decided to go on a date.  I guess you can say the rest is history.  We got engaged at the end of April 2003.  We were going to wait until I graduated college to get married but that did not happen.  Eddie spent the summer of 2003 in Wales and that was very hard.  We shared a lot of tears at the airport and even more when we were able to talk to each other on the phone.  I have a box at home with all of the postcards and letters that he sent me while he was gone.  He came back home in August and we started planning a wedding.  We got married on November 15, 2003 with our family and friends there to help celebrate.

Eddie started Mid America Baptist Theological Seminary in August 2003 and I started working at Walgreens.   We have been through a lot over the past 9 years.  We moved from Olive Branch to Byhalia in 2005.  Eddie had to stop seminary because it got to the point where we could not afford it anymore.  I started working at Car Wash Superstore in April 2005 and have been there ever since.  Eddie started working at Walmart in February 2004 and has been moving to different positions with them.

My family has seen a lot of happiness and sadness.  We lost my Uncle Roger in 2004 and my great-grandmother Mammaw in 2005.  Memorial day weekend 2009 my grandfather had a four wheeler accident while trying to round up the cows.  He fell off of the four wheeler and at the time we were not aware of any damage.  A fews days later he started feeling nauseated and we took him to the hospital.  Come to find out he had a blood vessel to pop in his brain and he ended up having to have brain surgery a few weeks later.  This was a very sad time for me because I was scared I was going to lose my grandfather but he got better.  Over the July 4th weekend in 2009, I went into the hospital because I was having some problems and we found out that I had had a miscarriage.  We were devastated.  We had been trying for so long to have children and then the miscarriage.  I blamed myself for what happened even though we did not know that cause of it.  I was 12 weeks along.

Fast forward to March 2010.  We signed up to go on a mission trip to Tokyo, Japan and we attended all the meetings.  I had been feeling funny for about a week before out trip.  I took a pregnancy test on March 10, 2010 and found out I was pregnant.  I frantically called the doctors office to make sure that it was okay for me to go to Tokyo.  The next morning, March 11,2010, Eddie and I along with others got on a plane to Tokyo.  We spent 8 days there and 2 days of flying.  It was such an amazing trip.  When we got home we told our family and friends our miracle news.  We found on, June 11,2010, that we were going to have a boy.  We named him Harrison Scruggs Johnson.  In my heart I was hoping for a girl but all I really wanted was a healthy baby.  I spent 2 weeks in the hospital before Harrison was born with preeclampsia.  We welcomed Harrison to our family on October 2, 2010.  He weighed 5 pounds 14 ounces and was 21.5 inches long.  He spent 1 week in the NICU.  I stayed in the hospital until October 8, 2010.  I visited Harrison every day in the NICU during visiting hours.  I was very sad having to leave my baby boy at that hospital that Friday evening.  We prayed that he would be able to come home soon since he was doing so well.  On Saturday, October 9, 2010, Eddie received a call from the hospital that we were able to come pick Harrison up and bring him home.  We were in the middle of breakfast at my grandparents house.  We quickly ate what was already on our plate and rushed out the door.  When we walked into the room that had just finished feeding him his bottle from that morning and were packing up all of his things.  Putting him in the car and driving out of that parking lot was one of the scariest feelings that I had.  I was worried that we were going to get in a wreck or something and I was just trying to protect him.

Now we have a healthy soon to be 2 year old that is a ball of energy.  I love that little boy with everything that I have.  I will figure out how to post pictures soon and get some up so everyone can see him.
